4.4 Child Care Centre
Wapaatawanga Child Care Centre (see picture 37) was unofficially opened in January 1998. It was approved and officially opened in October 1999. There are four full-time workers employed including 3 certified early childhood educators. Ministry of Community and Social Services guidelines are used and followed for the care of children admitted in the centre. The Child Care Centre can accommodate 16 preschoolers from 2 ½ to 5 years old and 5 toddlers from 18 to 30 months old. Waapatwanga Child Care Centre accepts full-time, part-time and social child care and is open 5 days a week from 8:30 to 5:00 pm.
